public competition for municipality of leiria [disqualified on a techicality] ● leiria, portugal ● architecture jpqueiroga ● 3ds bernardo silva ● The constructive logic of the bus station defines the character of the building and its image in the city. The project takes plastic advantage of the vertical constructive elements − concrete in situ − and horizontal constructive elements − prefabricated concrete beams − which allow the 27 meter span necessary to completely clear the docking pier space, which is intended to be the as wide and free from obstacles as possible. On the main elevation, to the south, a system of aluminum roller gates allows the full opening of the building to the city, making it an extension of the public space. The interior of the bus station is a covered plaza.
